Frequently Asked Questions
Any room in the home that’s susceptible to condensation can suffer from mould problems. Tile grout is typically the first place to show visible signs. Tongue-and-groove wall panels are an ideal alternative - with no grout, there’s no tough grout-cleaning and no mould. All our wall cladding for kitchen spaces is easy-to-install and durable, making kitchen cladding the perfect addition to your kitchen.
Can wall panels be used on kitchen walls?
Yes, they can. Tiles have often been the go-to wall covering for kitchens, however we recommend wall panels. Kitchen wall panels are a great alternative to tiles because they’re easy to install, hygienic and low-maintenance. However, beware that if you intend to use our panels behind the hob or oven, a heat-proof glass protector should also be installed to protect the panel from warping in the heat.
Is PVC cladding suitable for kitchens?
Yes, it is. PVC wall cladding is 100% waterproof, easy to clean and comes in a wide range of styles and colours, making it a great choice for an area as high-moisture and prone to spills as a kitchen. If you’re looking to spruce up your kitchen, we have a wide range of PVC cladding that offers easy installation and long-term wall protection.
What is the best type of wall covering for a kitchen?
PVC wall panels, tiles and moisture-resistant paint are all good kitchen wall covering options. While tiles have been the most popular choice throughout the years, however the upfront price and ongoing maintenance of tiles make PVC wall panels a more appealing choice. Here are some things to consider when choosing the best kitchen wall covering for your home:
-
Tiles: durable, waterproof and popular, but fairly pricy and grout requires regular, meticulous cleaning to avoid mould and bacteria build-up.
-
Moisture-resistant paint: Semi-gloss/high-gloss paints are washable and good for backsplashes, but not as durable as other options.
-
PVC wall panels: easy to install, waterproof and available in a wide range of styles, they offer a cost effective alternative to tiles that are as durable as tile and stone.
How to fit kitchen wall panels:
Installing kitchen wall panels is straight-forward and doesn’t differ significantly from installing them elsewhere in your home. Here’s how to fit kitchen wall panels with ease:
-
Prep the area by cleaning and drying with a clean cloth.
-
Apply adhesive to the edges and middle of the wall panels you’ve chosen.
-
Position and secure the wall panels by placing them on the measured area, pressing them firmly and wiping away any excess adhesive.
-
Seal the adhesive with silicone once it is dry (which could be up to 24 hours after installation).
-
Clean the wall panels of any smudges or fingerprints once you’re done, and you’re good to go!

How do you measure for kitchen wall panel installation?
To measure for kitchen wall panel installation, you’ll need to measure both the area you’re looking to cover and the wall panels you want to use to ensure they’re cut to fit the area.
We have a handy guide on working out square metres that will help you understand how to measure the area. To measure your wall panels, simply mark your measurements on the back of your panel with a pencil once you know the length of the area you need that panel to cover.
How to clean and maintain kitchen wall panels:
Cleaning kitchen wall panels is easy. All you need is a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Cover the surface of your panel with soapy water, allowing it to soak into any marks or stains. Remove the soap with a wet, clean cloth in circular motion. Be sure to remove all soap and dry thoroughly to prevent damage and mould growth.
