Is panelling a bathroom a good idea?

PVC wall panels for bathroom spaces are easy to install, 100% waterproof, affordable in comparison to the costly nature of tiles and available in a wide range of different designs, making them a great alternative to tiles.

For a closer look at the differences between the two, be sure to check out our blog post ‘Wall Panels vs. Tiles: Which Is Best?’. Bathroom PVC panels, such as the ones in our range, can be a better fit than tiles for most bathrooms.

What is the best material for bathroom wall panels?

Our PVC bathroom panels are a great material. This is because our waterproof bathroom panels lower the risk of mould and damp development, meaning they can withstand the moisture that is typically found in bathrooms - great for shower wall panels and bathroom wet walls.

Please note that the installation method and sealant used with your bathroom wall panelling will also play a role in determining whether your installation is waterproof.

Can you put wallboards for bathroom spaces over tiles?

Yes, you can - installing wall panels for bathrooms is a great way to update the look of your bathroom without spending a lot of money.

When installing the panels, make sure that the tiles are securely attached to the wall, if they aren’t the panels won’t attach properly and could loosen over time.

In addition, you will need to make sure that there is an adequate gap between the panels and the tiles whilst also making sure that you use an adhesive that is designed for use on bathroom walls.

Is it cheaper to tile or panel a bathroom?

Generally speaking, a panel for bathroom walls is cheaper than tiles because tiles are more expensive to produce, to install, and they need grout which also costs money. When buying bathroom tiles, you could find yourself shelling out upwards of £100 per square metre. Yet, at DBS Bathrooms, our high-quality bathroom cladding starts at just £6 per 250mm x 2600mm, making them a particularly cost-effective choice.
