Cladding around a window can be one of the most awkward parts of using bathroom wall panels. With this in mind, the team have created this helpful how-to video, where they offer helpful tips to make this part of renovating a bathroom as simple as possible.

Adding wet wall panels around a window

This can be a time-consuming process and requires a certain level of patience to ensure a professional finish. Measuring and cutting straight lines on PVC panels isn’t complicated, but if your window has a large sill on the bottom you will need some finesse. Remember to check all measurements more than once and check how the panels fit before installing them onto the wall.

Tools required

  • Fine blad jigsaw
  • Fine sandpaper
  • Panel adhesive
  • Tape measure
  • Drill
  • Screws

Step 1: Measure your panel

If your window is straight with no window sill, use a tape measure from the floor to the bottom of your window and mark the back of the panel to note where the window is. Also note where the window finishes to the left or right, to ensure you’ve accounted for the entire frame.

If you have a large windowsill, set the panel as close to the windowsill as possible and use a pencil to draw around it, giving you an indication of where to cut.

Step 2: Cut and file your panels

With straight windows, simply cut where your markings are to create space for the window. For windowsills, cut the panel carefully to match the shape of the windowsill, using sandpaper to round the edges where necessary.

Sand everything down to remove any shoddy edges or scrappy bits of PVC from the wet wall panels. This will create a professional finish.

Step 3: Install panels

First, place some adhesive on the back of your panel and install this into the trim at the side of your windows. When it is placed in, use the drill to screw it into the wall. Then, add the rest of your panels as normal.
